The internet is so extensive that it is difficult to know every source that would be useful to us as future teachers. I really like the ELA standard "LAFS.K.W.2.6 With guidance and support from adults, explore a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in combination with peers." This is for kindergarten standards. I will use this because I want to teach kindergarten. The technology associated with this is smartboard and digital learning. I really like smartboard because I have been using Smartboard since I was in middle school. Our teachers would teach us how to effectively use it and I would play with the smartboard until it was time for class. I would deliberately show up to school early to play with it. I am not very knowledgeable about StoryJumper which is also used for technology for kindergarteners. StoryJumper seems like a really good website for me to use.
The CPALMS is really good to get ideas of how to teach children from people who have been using these lesson plans for years. I really like the Smartboard like I said before because I am familiar with it. Kids like me really liked playing and interacting with the Smartboard because the kids can control what they do. Like the lesson plan said the kids will begin to learn the different parts of a sentence, and you can match the word to the part of the sentence it is. I was able to look into StoryJumper. I really like how you can create books because if you are teaching math or something else you can think creatively and make something for your subject. They also have other books published that you can look at. The website provides templates for lesson plans. This ELA is similar to the one for second grade that I did the presentation on with the smartboard for second grade.
I love that Ms Ginny lets us do creative projects like creating a Newsletter. Comparing the Newsletter though to the Website, I prefer making the website. I thought it was a little difficult making the Newsletter because it is hard to transfer from Mac to PC and it would look different on the PC so sometimes it was frustrating. I would design the newsletter and it would look so perfect on my Mac but I would have to do a majority of it again on a PC. I was able to learn about a header because I had no idea that you could input pictures in the header. I also learned how to make the date change every day automatically. As an elementary teacher, I would love to be able to make newsletters for parents and students so I will not get 10000000000 emails about what they are doing throughout the month and will be updated whenever there is something big going on.
